Sans forgot about the New Year that is coming because he does not care at all.
For him, every year is full of laziness and apathy since there is no reason to be happy in this world and the timeline is still ruined. Which is the sense of celebrating this event. Everything is still a mess!
You seem to care a lot about the New Year’s Eve and he does not complain about it –too much effort even for complaining-. Christmas is over so there is no reason you should give him a gift but you want. Just know he is not going to reciprocate your gesture because it requires too much effort, again.
Your presents for him are some traditional clothes of your country and he is confused because he does not know a thing about it and he has never asked himself about your nation or its culture. He just thanks you for it, it is still nice but he is still sure this year will be like the last ones, not so worthy and Sans will be lazier than the last year.🌍 Pappy 🌎

He will tell you about his culture and traditions, it is great to learn new things about each other and your culture is a part of yourself so knowing your culture is also knowing yourself a little more, for him.
His excitement fills the air, he cannot wait for the New Year to come, and he has already written the list of the things he wants to do this year and all the projects he desires to accomplish. In most of his projects, you are present and he has already programmed to spend this year with his favourite human. It is totally amazing!
When he sees all your presents, he is more excited than before and it is a surprise because he thought gifts were a Christmas thing. Their origins are mysterious but they are glad knowing yours and now that the Underground is free, Frisk have a lot of time to dedicate to their S/O and Frisk understand they want to live a life with you so it is necessary knowing your culture.
This year is a mystery but they are determinate enough to face it and they will never give up. It does not matter the hard times you and they will have, Frisk will be always by your side to cheer you up and this year will be fill with joy and surprise, they are sure about it.

You know, she is not the happiest person alive and she has so many problems with herself, she still thinks about her past that torments her like a nightmare. She just hopes this year will be decent and not too awful. That she will be able to survive with her inner demons and thanks to you, this will be easier. At least, she will not be alone and this is the most important thing. Alphys will never cry at night and she will not be stand with her loneliness and her awful thoughts, but with you.

Then, she is a very curious person, and she bombards you with questions about your country. You know, when she starts speaking about something she is a train and she will not stop until she is out of breath.
She does not know how to repay your kindness and you already know everything about the Underground. What could she do?
The only human stuff she got comes from the garbage but maybe it won’t be a good gift for you so she is very confused… Anyway, you remain the perfect gift for her.
